Recruitment

Background

Birmingham Law Society member firms had a vision - to create a legal recruitment business where the client and candidate were key priorities. Existing legal recruitment firms offered poor service levels, their main aim being the achievement of target placement fees. As a result of this vision, Recruitment Solutions was born in January 2002.

Based in the heart of the region's legal community, Recruitment Solutions is focussed on placing qualified lawyers, legal executives, and paralegals within exceptional legal jobs with members of Birmingham Law Society.

Placements are divided between permanent recruits and locum assignments, with member firms based throughout the greater West Midlands, from Birmingham to Telford, Coventry to the Black Country, Worcester to Stafford.

We have the commitment of member firms to our business - we are your legal recruitment service and are keen to work with you.

Our Unique Perspective

Recruitment Solutions has a well established and active relationship with solicitor firms, barristers' chambers, the judiciary, and government organisations. This gives us a broad overview of the legal community, and a detailed perspective of potential employers. Glenda Rogers, Recruitment Manager is responsible for managing the needs of all our member firms candidate requirements.

Glenda's guiding principles ensure that she handles all recruitment professionally, individuals are handled with discretion and confidentiality and each candidate is well matched to both the role and firm. Rather than automatically searching for alternative employment possibilities, we encourage candidates to consider the career opportunities within their current firm. This process of reviewing and comparing their situation with potential external opportunities is a useful and productive exercise, with many candidates deciding to remain with their present employer. This strict focus on the needs of members firms and the career development needs of candidates is coupled with a fair fee structure, particularly if recruits leave within unreasonable timescales. This is always an issue with firms as secretarial recruits typically move more readily than professional lawyers. Our focus on delivering long-term success rather than quick-fix results directly impacts on our approach.

When alternative employment/recruitment opportunities are identified, one of our key considerations is to place a candidate in a position that will offer them at least five years' growth and development. This benefits both parties: the client, who is usually looking to recruit an individual with the potential to progress within the firm; and the candidate, who achieves the development within law which is what they were looking for.

The measure of our success is long-term client and candidate satisfaction, indicated by the successful career development of our candidates, and the reduced staff turnover of our clients.

Can we help you?

Having worked in the legal market for many years, Glenda is an experienced legal recruiter and is already known to many of you. She has a sound knowledge of the Birmingham legal market and candidate pool with experience of recruiting legal staff at all levels - fee earners, secretaries, HR specialists, administration and accounts staff.

Are you looking for new employees?

Would you like some career advice?

Have you decided it's time to move on?
