BECOME A TRUSTEE FOR LOVEBRUM!

Become a Trustee for LoveBrum!

About LoveBrum

LoveBrum is a charity set up to ‘make Birmingham better’. It was created so that local people could get behind local projects in a simple way so that these benefits could be seen and felt. LoveBrum has a unique setup, as the decision to fund causes lies with its members.

Each month, members vote on which causes it would like to support. The advantages of this lie in the power delegated to its funders and the ability of the charity to profile city/regional projects that may otherwise not be recognised.

Examples of past causes funded

Lily Mae Foundation – A funding package of £5k providing support for parents and families following a stillbirth or neonatal death. This resource has enabled training for trustees to deliver counselling support to affected families.

Ups and Downs – £5k towards the training of a trustee to deliver Makaton skills to parents of children with Down ’s syndrome in order to improve their communication and participation in day to day life. The money also helped pay for speech and language therapy sessions.

Sampson Road – £1.5k towards a community project aimed at improving the Sparkbrook local area through traffic improvements, cleaner streets and better police relationships to reduce crime.

LoveBrum has supported almost 30 projects in total since inception in 2015 and has showcased over 100 fantastic causes.

What we are looking for…

The Charity is still relatively new and requires a significant amount of resource for its day to day activities. We have 8 trustees currently, who work across a wide spectrum of businesses in the city including property, media, finance and recruitment.

The trustees are actively involved in the charity together with the 2 funded dedicated employees. LoveBrum has experienced significant growth in the past 2 years and now is the time to add to its skill set. We are keen to hear from prospective trustees with legal backgrounds, to complement the existing expertise on the Board. We would be very keen to hear from any candidates with a working knowledge of charity governance issues and/or contract law, but welcome applications from people across all legal specialisms.

Trustees are required for at least one Board meeting a month, outside of office hours, in addition to ad-hoc attendance at local events to represent the Charity. In return, you get to work with a dynamic and hands-on team, raise money for some great local causes and be part of the business network that LoveBrum has grown as well the opportunity to utilise your skill set in a fun, challenging and rewarding environment, whilst raising your profile in the city’s business community.
