BLS INVITES MEMBERS TO THE DIVERSITY LEAGUE TABLE

Birmingham Law Society is inviting members to take part in the 10th annual Diversity League Table (DLT) to ensure the region is represented in this key national initiative.

The Diversity League Table is widely regarded as one of the legal profession’s leading diversity reporting initiatives. It is sponsored by the Law Society of England and Wales, and supported by the Bar Council, the SRA and the LSB.

Looking at the largest firms and chambers in the UK, the Diversity League Table reporting covers four diversity strands; gender, ethnicity and sexual orientation. The results are presented as a series of organisational profiles and also league tables; ranking participating firms and chambers in key areas, as well as presenting an overall ranking, the Diversity League Table. Articles, interviews with leading figures and case studies complete picture; and the full report is to be published in October as a high quality, magazine-style publication. Last year’s launch event and audience Q&A was hosted by BBC News anchor, Clive Myrie.

Equality, diversity and inclusion have become increasingly important to many of the leading companies in the UK and overseas. Many of these companies procure legal services and more and more look to see improvements in this area within their own supply chain.

For participants, the Diversity League Table enables them to see quickly and at a glance how they compare to peers at all key stages of practitioner progression; enabling more informed decisions to be made. Additionally, the transparency communicated to potential client organisations is also something that offers potential benefits and shows commitment, whatever stage of the journey they are on.

From 2014 the digital edition of the Diversity League Table was made available from launch. Physical and digital copies are distributed to a range of people and organisations, including key legal procurement figures in FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 companies, local authorities and the wider public sector. As part of the media coverage surrounding the launch, online media outlets carry a link to the digital edition, which delivers the potential to be on websites which are conservatively estimated to receive a combined total of over 100,000 unique hits per month.
