Corporate Sponsors Back 2010 Legal Awards
Friday, 12th February 2010
Birmingham Law Society’s annual Legal Awards promises to be another night to remember thanks to the generous support of the city’s business community.
Seven companies have signed up as sponsors of this year’s event, including DX Group, which has thrown its weight behind the awards as the main sponsor.
Based on Temple Street, DX Group is the UK and Ireland’s leading provider of next day business mail services. As well as the main sponsor, the company will be sponsoring the Law Firm of the Year (five to 15 partners) category.
Other category sponsors include Chiltern Railways, Law Firm of the Year (sole practitioners up to four partners); The College of Law, Trainee Solicitor of the Year; Giles Insurance Brokers, Assistant/Associate Solicitor of the Year; Landmark Information Group, Commercial Solicitor of the Year; Severn Trent Searches, Legal Executive of the Year; and St Philips Chambers, Law Firm of the Year (16 partners or more).
The three remaining categories – Barrister of the Year, International Solicitor of the Year and Private Client Solicitor of the Year – are still to be sponsored.
Birmingham City Council Legal Services, No5 Chambers and Deloitte will also be supporting the event, which will be held at the ICC on Thursday 25 March.
Bernard Shepherd, Birmingham Law Society president, said: “We are extremely grateful for the support we have received from the city’s corporate sector. Without their generosity staging an event such as this would not be possible.
“We are proud of the fact that a number of our long-term sponsors, who have sponsored the awards virtually since they began, have decided to support them again this year, as it proves the event is still as highly regarded as it as ever been.
“By bringing new sponsors on board we hope we can secure the long-term future of the awards and in doing continue to celebrate and reward the achievements of the region’s legal sector.”
The guest speaker at this year’s awards will be Times columnist and former Conservative MP Matthew Parris.
Entries for the awards are now closed. The shortlisted winners in each category will be picked by a panel of judges.
