Key Annual Events and Networking
The President's Dinner, in its amended format, and the tenth Legal Awards Dinner in 2011 are prominent events to recognise and celebrate success and achievement in the legal community in Birmingham and the surrounding area.
Informal networking events, at differing locations throughout the year, are now a regular part of the Society’s annual programme, involving members of the Birmingham Solicitors Group and the Birmingham Trainee Solicitors Society.

Birmingham Law Society's Legal Awards 2012 - 22nd March 2012
Following on from the success of the 2011 Legal Awards, Birmingham Law Society will once again be holding its annual celebration of the region’s legal sector at the 2012 Legal Awards.
Now in its eleventh year, the black tie dinner and awards ceremony, which will take place at the ICC on Thursday 22 March, is an opportunity for the legal community to join together in recognition of the achievements of firms and individuals over the past 12 months.
For a number of years, sponsors have been courted for the principal event in the annual calendar of Society events, the Legal Awards Dinner. About 550 people attend this top profile event at the International Convention Centre for the presentation of 11 Awards. A high profile speaker is present at each dinner.

Firms and individuals from the region’s legal sector are being encouraged to enter next year’s Legal Awards. With just weeks to go until the entry deadline, Birmingham Law Society has issued a rallying call to the West Midlands’ legal community to get behind the awards by submitting nominations. Entries are being sought for the ten awards categories. Next year’s event will take place at the ICC on 22 March. Nominations are open to both members and non-members of Birmingham Law Society, either individuals or firms, within the West Midlands. Deadline for entries is Friday 9 December 2011. Birmingham Law Society's Newly Qualified Celebration 2012
Birmingham Law Society organised the first alternative admission ceremony in 2008, 250 newly qualified solicitors and their family and friends were invited to celebrate their legal achievements at a drinks reception. Due to the success of this event Birmingham Law Society repeat this event annually in October. Details to follow soon.

Birmingham Law Society's President's Annual Dinner 2012
The President's Dinner will be for up to 200 people drawn predominantly from the professional legal sector of the Birmingham business community with the following also attending: the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, High Sheriff of the West Midlands, The Chief Constable of the West Midlands, Leader of the Birmingham City Council, President of the national Law Society, the Presiding Judge of the Midlands Circuit, the Lord Lieutenant of the West Midlands and a number of other local dignitaries. The main purpose of the evening is to network and meet and mingle with fellow professionals and senior contacts, with the formalities restricted to four speeches, including the President.
